Three-time Most Valuable Player Jokic endures a 'gut-wrenching' injury to his knee.
Triple National Basketball Association MVP Nikola Jokic sustained a "devastating" injury to his knee as the Nuggets were defeated 147-123 to the Heat.
Jokic was hurt late in the first half during an accidental contact with team-mate Jones.
Jones stepped on the footwear of Jokic, who promptly fell to the court holding his leg.
The 30-year-old, who leads the NBA season in boards and assists, recorded a score of 21 points and eight assists in the contest prior to sustaining the injury.
Jokic is scheduled for an scan on the following day to determine the severity of the injury.
"Immediately, Jokic knew he was hurt," said Nuggets head coach David Adelman.
"This is part of the NBA. Any player that suffers an injury, that's difficult, particularly a player as talented as him. More information will come on Tuesday."
"The team will adjust as a team. Clearly, currently, I am more concerned about him personally and the letdown of experiencing something like that."
