The former Liverpool manager states a return to coach Liverpool is plausible in theory.

Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, remarked that a future comeback remains something that could happen. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful near-decade reign which brought continental glory and the Premier League crown since 1990, has since taken on roles overseeing worldwide football within the Red Bull organization and as an advisor with the German Football League.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

Liverpool won the Premier League last season, though countless followers who adore the manager would embrace the notion that he may eventually return. In a wide-ranging interview, he explained to Steven Bartlett: “I stated I won't manage another team in England. Therefore should it be the Reds...yes. In theory, it could happen.”

“Being 58, so I might decide in a few years, it's uncertain. Must I choose now? If so, I wouldn't return. Luckily, I don’t have to do that. I'll wait and observe how things unfold.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

When asked about which situations would have to unfold to bring him back to management, he confessed he feels no immediate pull toward coming back. “I'm not entirely sure, I enjoy my current role,” he said. “No longing for management; I don’t miss standing during downpours through long matches; I don’t miss going to press conferences four times, three times a week or having 10-12 interviews weekly.

“No nostalgia for the changing area as a dressing room, but sitting in a restaurant with the team enjoying conversation, I appreciate that. We won a lot of games thus frequently a very good mood around the place. Remaining with me is Van Dijk's laughter in my ear for example.”

Commending Arne Slot

He commended of the current boss, acknowledging his role for the adjustments which secured the championship in the previous season. They've been defeated four in a row across various tournaments after a summer spending spree, but he rubbished the suggestion it could be the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker such as Wirtz, you will all eat your words with negative comments. A remarkable prospect. Ekitike, incredible player. They have a strong balanced team. No need for concern over the club, things will improve.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally regarding the passing of Jota, a 2020 acquisition in 2020, along with the consequences on Liverpool. The forward died tragically in a vehicle collision together with his sibling recently.

“Who can fill the void of such an individual? This isn't just regarding his footballing ability, his personality mattered. I struggle to conceive the squad missing him. I still cannot speak properly on this topic. It was an incredible shock for the entire squad too. No one within the club might employ it for poor performances yet it's the reality. Being in that space which he filled completely. Coping with it emotionally is difficult. Impossible.”
