President Trump Invites Families of Shot Guard Members to White House
Former President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has invited the loved ones of a Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the presidential home.
He added that he contacted her parents and they were “heartbroken”.
Details on the Heartbreaking Incident
Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a attack on last Wednesday in DC.
Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in serious condition.
Memorials across West Virginia have occurred in their remembrance.
Presidential Invitation
The president stated he’s proposed a White House visit for the families of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” Trump addressed the press. “And in the same way with Andrew, recover or not.”
Community Response
Community members gathered over the past few days at Webster County high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.
Both the soldiers had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to aid public safety in DC.
Paying Tribute to Beckstrom
“She was the kind of student that instructors desired. She conducted herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that lifted people around her,” Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s alma mater, informed the Associated Press. “She was caring, compassionate and always ready to support those in need.”
Memorial arrangements for Sarah are still being arranged.
Judicial Measures and Government Revisions
Authorities have charged a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of murder and charges of attempted murder while armed.
The event caused the government to pause asylum processing and halt granting visas to owners of travel documents.
Condition of Andrew Wolfe
Wolfe, a resident of the city, started his military career in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, as reported by the AP.
He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s governor Morrisey mentioned on television.
Attorney general Pam Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she aimed to meet with the family.
Legacy of Beckstrom
Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a law enforcement officer with excellence, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of kindness and she definitely had courage,” Morrisey told the audience at the memorial. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
