Netflix Chooses Ideal Star for Mr. 2 in the Hit Series Season 3
Baroque Works is set to make a major impact in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, though the true confrontation won’t unfold until the third season, and a beloved, fan-favorite member has now been chosen.
The platform declared Tuesday that the talented performer is now part of the One Piece cast for the third season and will embody Mr. 2. Bon Clay possesses the power to morph into an exact copy of any individual they’ve touched with their main hand. Escola, who is gender non-conforming and prefers they/them pronouns, will portray a version of that role re-envisioned as gender non-binary, instead of as a drag queen, in the live-action show, differing from the initial comic and cartoon version.
The new cast member joins several other recently announced actors who will portray the group to life, such as chief the main antagonist, brought to life by the seasoned performer, a talented actress as Miss Goldenweek, and an accomplished actor, who is also part of the lineup as King Nefertari Cobra of the desert kingdom.
Although the role is a major member of Baroque Works, the persona will be introduced in One Piece the upcoming installment. Considering the next season likely to portray the Little Garden segment, this marks a notable change in the timing of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could suggest additional alterations to the narrative framework.
The actor’s combination of sharp comedic timing and emotional depth makes them a standout choice for the character. Besides their recent voice performance in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and numerous honors for writing and starring in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, showcasing the versatility they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s most celebrated roles.
