LA Explodes in Celebration as Dodgers Secure Back-to-Back World Series Championship
The City of Angels experienced citywide celebrations after the Los Angeles Dodgers clinched a nail-biting seven-match World Series title. Supporters across the globe joined Angelenos in celebration, marking the first time in a quarter-century that a franchise has achieved back-to-back championships.
Victory Parade Draws Enormous Crowds
Los Angeles area events included a downtown parade on the morning of the parade, a reserved-seating event at the team's home stadium, and spontaneous parties across the city.
Online footage show countless of Angelenos packing downtown streets, many displaying handmade banners and Dodger flags. The team was seen traveling proudly on a open-top bus through the crowds, raising the championship trophy high.
“I’m already thinking about the next championship we’re going to achieve this,” the star player remarked through an interpreter.
The parade route concluded at the stadium, where the players emerged to the rapper’s “Not Like Us,” with DJ Mustard providing music and the artist cruising a Pacific blue classic car around the stadium’s outfield.
Pre-Parade Festivities and Player Reactions
Festivities began well before the procession, with Dodgers fans lighting fireworks in the roads of the city center on the previous evening.
The World Series MVP, named the World Series’ Most Valuable Player, spoke plainly about the victory.
“Losing is not an option,” Yamamoto stated. “I adore this team. I love Los Angeles.”
Varied Responses and City Unity
However, the team owner received a less warm reception at the celebration. Video footage from the event seem to depict him taking the stage to a combination of cheers and boos, with jeers interrupting his address.
The championship served as a positive moment in what has been a trying year for Los Angeles. An approximate quarter-million people showed up to the Dodgers’ victory parade last year, and according to team member one athlete, supporters this year showed as much if not more enthusiasm.
“I feel like it’s nearly twice from last year,” Freeman said. “These fans are crazy. It’s truly amazing to be a part of this.”
