Jujutsu Kaisen: The Execution Film Seeks to Resolve the Anime's Major Issue

JuJutsu Kaisen: Execution is not entirely an original film. Rather, the newest cinematic release from the Jujutsu Kaisen action franchise serves as a collection of the anime's second season combined with the opening installments of its upcoming season, which kicks off the Culling Games storyline from the original manga. This positions Execution, which has been given a new trailer, the first way to view the start of the forthcoming season ahead of its 2026 January debut. The film debuts in cinemas in Japan starting November 7, and in the United States and Canada on December 5.

The Culling Games Plot

In the Culling Games plot, Special Grade sorcerer Yuta Okkotsu finally joins the anime series and is charged by sorcery authorities to take down his fellow student Yuji Itadori. Their long-awaited clash occurs for the first time on the cinema screen, and if the animation team at Mappa have a treat as the two-part Thunderclap episodes waiting in the wings for viewers this festive season, JuJutsu Kaisen: Execution may turn out to be the present that we've been waiting for.

The Thunderclap Issue

"Thunderclap episodes" from the second season is often hailed as a top-tier scene in anime history, despite all the controversy in last year when the installments originally aired. It was stated that the artists were facing harsh deadlines to the degree, and the broadcast edition that aired at the time was unfinished and reportedly not what the artists first envisioned.

The Epic Battle

The episode showcases a much-hyped confrontation between two powerful sorcerers, the King of Curses and the Eight-Handled Sword. It features innovative art style, excellent direction, and dynamic fight choreography. A subsequent home video edition allowed the team to insert new moments to enhance the battle. So it seemed possible Execution could improve the battle even more. However, viewing the latest preview, it's hard to tell if that confrontation has undergone further polishing. It'd be a shame if it was not, because a sequence that grand has to be seen on the largest display with the finest quality available.

Season Two's Achievement

The second season of JuJutsu Kaisen elevated the franchise to become the award-winning series of 2024, and when episodes 40 and 41 were premiered one after another, it was the topic of conversation for weeks in the animation fandom. Audiences were aware of the problems with the production, which made them value what they saw even more. People anxiously checked to see if the Blu-ray, launched in mid-March, would feature extra content to the sequence or to see if it was improved in any way, and were thrilled to see just that, alongside color corrections, more motion, and revised visual style.

The Feature's Advantage

But the home video can only refine what has previously shown in the broadcast edition, whereas the movie has the potential to properly present the moment with additional alterations and new animations entirely.

A Masterpiece

As it stands, these two episodes serve as the pinnacle of JuJutsu Kaisen, and should be handled with care by the animation team, especially considering the issues they encountered at the time. It's drawn the focus of viewers all over the world, and the Culling Games is a much-expected plotline of the following year. If the studio wants to kick off the year perfectly, revisit the show's top scene once again in theaters with the ultimate presentation we've witnessed to date.
