Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed operations across the region in retaliation for a significant and ongoing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is uncertain and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have shot down missiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted wreckage landed in a residential area in the capital, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
