Hulu to Bring a Far Cry TV Show from the Producers of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The most recent Far Cry game that players explored was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it has a reputation for celebrating violence and insanity with the same glee, all while presenting gripping, politically driven tales. Little surprise that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry limited-run show pulled in two creators whose creations have represented all of those things.

Show Details

Based on Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the limited anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The anthology will also follow the video games' style by introducing a fresh setting and group of personalities in every instalment.

Key Producers

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as executive producers on the series through their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had magnificent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, gripping, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we do not know what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently approved for another season, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the showrunner.

“Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team always encourages me with their constant trust and backing.”

“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone show. Every title is a take of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a story,” said Hawley. “To create a large-scale action show that can shift from year to year, while always examining the essence of humanity through this multifaceted and chaotic viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m excited to partner with Rob and bring our mutual unconventional, daring style to the screen.”

A time frame for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
