Almost 55,000 families have currently been harmed by the weather, with their possessions and temporary homes destroyed.

Heavy rains over the recent period have worsened the already dire living conditions of the vast number of evacuated residents in the territory, as reported by aid organizations.

"Terrible" Conditions Brings Severe Risks

A representative characterized the weather overnight as "awful", with downpours so intense that up to 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the streets.

"Last night was really difficult for the people. The heavy rains were so powerful... And the gusts were so powerful," said the representative.

Authorities voice significant concern that children sheltering in temporary structures in wet attire will succumb to hypothermia and various sicknesses.

Deaths and Extensive Damage

The health ministry have stated that one baby has succumbed from hypothermia and at least 11 other people have died in roof cave-ins caused by the storms.

Additional accounts suggest a greater fatality count. Authorities said that several structures had fully given way and dozens had sustained partial collapse.

  • Almost 55,000 families harmed by the weather.
  • More than 40 emergency safe spaces severely flooded.
  • Many people forced to move once more.

Assistance Distribution Seen as Not Enough

Groups have stepped up distribution of shelter, bedding and clothes after the ceasefire started, but they stress there is remains not enough aid reaching those in need.

"Officials are working relentlessly to provide that aid and to hand it out, but the size of the necessities is so immense that we are faced with a great number of people and minors who are truly suffering every night," warned one representative.

Ongoing Issues and Agreement Plans

The second phase of the agreement involves plans for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the removal of troops, and other conditions.

Aid groups have stressed the imperative for "increased and sustained relief to respond to immediate and long-term requirements."

The conflict was initiated by an offensive in October 2023. Subsequent campaigns have caused a substantial number of casualties in the area, based on medical figures.
