One of the original creators behind the well-known ice cream brand Ben and Jerry's has claimed how parent company the multinational conglomerate stopped the launch of a new Palestine-themed frozen dessert product.

Ben Cohen, that established the company with Jerry Greenfield, revealed how he plans to personally create the controversial flavor within an individual collection showcasing causes Ben & Jerry's was prevented from speaking out about.

Longstanding Conflict Between Founders versus Parent Company

The recent development deepens the continuing conflict between the world-famous ice cream maker with its corporate parent, the British packaged goods corporation that has owned Ben & Jerry's for over two decades.

Both founders have asserted how Unilever and their ice cream division Magnum improperly prevented their company against "maintaining its activist principles".

Watermelon Sorbet becoming an Emblem of Solidarity

The entrepreneur announced via an Instagram video how he's developing an innovative watermelon-based frozen dessert, requesting public suggestions for the product's name plus potential ingredients.

“I'm doing what they couldn't,” Mr. Cohen declared from his kitchen. “I'm making a watermelon-flavored frozen dessert that calls for permanent peace for Palestinians and calls for addressing the harm that was done there.”

The watermelon has become an emblem of solidarity with Palestinians because of its coloration, which mirror those of Palestine's national banner – red, green, black and white.

Historical Social Engagement and Recent Changes

Several years ago, the ice cream company ceased sales of their merchandise in territories under Israeli control, leading to the parent company transferring the Israeli operation to a local licensee, thereby permitting ongoing distribution in disputed territories.

This upcoming dessert series will be developed under Ben's Best, the activist dessert company that originally established in 2016 for endorsing ex- political contender Senator Sanders via the flavor "Bernie's Return".

Leadership Changes plus Future Plans

Mr. Cohen revealed that he will develop other frozen dessert varieties that address issues that the company was prevented from speaking about openly due to Unilever.

The announcement follows partner Jerry Greenfield resigned from Ben & Jerry's recently, following decades with the organization, mentioning concerns that its independence was compromised following Unilever's decision to restrict their advocacy work.

At that time, Ben Cohen commented how “My partner has a really big heart and the ongoing dispute with Unilever was breaking it."

"My heart compels me to continue to work inside the company to advocate for corporate autonomy ensuring that it can fulfill its ethical purpose, the principles which it was founded on while upholding for over 40 years," he explained to media outlets.
